Motorist stopped, marijuana found

A Sugarloaf man has been charged with multiple offenses following an incident in McAdoo on Dec. 15.

Patrolman Steven Homanko was on patrol at 1:40 a.m. when he observed a vehicle traveling west on East Blaine Street. The vehicle did not have a functioning rear light and the officer observed the driver throwing a lit object out of the window.Homanko stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as Robert Carelli, 21. A strong odor of marijuana emanated from the car and the officer observed two burnt "blunts" in the center console, as well as material he suspected to be marijuana on the driver's floor mat.Carelli was cited for driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, littering, careless driving and failure to meet the vehicle's general lighting requirements.
