A Carbon County man was jailed on Christmas Day for assault.

Lehighton police said borough resident Wayne Schaub, 28, of 102 Stedman Ave., has been charged with aggravated assault, three counts of simple assault, and a count of terroristic threats as the result of a disturbance at his residence that occurred about 1:40 a.m.

Police said Schaub allegedly assaulted his nephew and the nephew's girlfriend. He also took the nephew's cell phone and threatened to beat him until he was dead if he called police.

Schaub was taken into custody about 10 a.m. and arraigned before a district judge. He was committed to the county prison in Nesquehoning after failing to post 10 percent bail of $100,000 bail.
