Three cars were heavily damaged in Tamaqua around 2:30 p.m. yesterday after a male driver of a Ford Taurus said his brakes failed. Traveling south on Market Street, just before the East Mauch Chunk St. intersection, the driver of the Ford barreled into a parked Dodge Dakota sitting along the westbound side of Market Street. He then continued through the intersection and into the side of a parked Plymouth van located on the southbound side of East Mauch Chunk Street. No serious injuries were reported. All three vehicles had to be towed. Neighbors, stating a similar accident last week, stressed that this is a very dangerous intersection. They added that drivers always drive through stop signs here. No more information was available this morning as of press time.
