St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Third and Coal streets, Lehighton, will present a special concert featuring Russ Rentler at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 2. There is no admission charge. A free will offering will be taken up during the concert to benefit Rentler's missionary work in Haiti. Refreshments and sales of his music will be available in the school hall after the concert.

Rentler is a multi-instrumentalist playing original music on traditional American instruments, which include hammer and mountain dulcimers, guitar, banjo, Dobro, autoharp, harmonica and mandolin. His music has been played on NPR's Car Talk and he has performed at Musikfest, Mayfair, Godfrey Daniel's and in multiple churches and coffeehouses throughout the Lehigh Valley.

He has been going to Haiti as a medical missionary since the 1990s and helped establish a medical clinic in Port-au-Prince in 2009. He and his wife Deborah are now going to Cap Haitien to support the Missionaries of the Poor, a city in the north of the country. The proceeds of his concerts and CD sales are used to support these medical missions.
