Slatington area residents with a flair for the arts are urged to participate in a logo contest to jump-start Slatington's Sesquicentennial.

Individuals who live, work, or attend school in or around the borough are urged to participate in the borough's 150th Anniversary Logo Design Contest.

In honor of the borough's Sesquicentennial, the logo contest has begun to find the best logo to represent the town during its milestone anniversary.

Last week, borough council officially recognized the 150th Anniversary Committee, which prompted the committee, led by Chairman John Rinker, to begin to plan for the celebration.

The logo will be prominently featured during all anniversary celebration events, on all marketing and publicity materials such as merchandising, website and social media, printed materials, and incorporated into keepsake items.

Entrants are asked to consider the rich history of Slatington as well as the architecture, monuments, landscape, that make up the borough they call home. The goal of the competition is to give local artists of all levels the opportunity to create a logo that will be incorporated into the anniversary celebration, as well as help kick-off the celebrations.

All entries are due no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24. All submissions will be reviewed and judged by a panel of interested parties. The winner will be announced in early May and will be recognized and awarded prizes.

Submissions can be emailed to the Anniversary Committee at Slatington150@gmail.com, or dropped off to Alice Wanamaker at the Blue Mt. Town & Country Gazette office, 4685 Lehigh Drive, Walnutport (Berlinsville) PA. All entries should include the following: Name, address, phone number, email address and a brief narrative explaining the artist's design choices.

Anyone with questions may contact Rinker at (610) 428-9862.
