Carbon Career and Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, was one of eight schools from six counties who recently competed in the District 7 DECA conferences at Memorial Hall, Jim Thorpe. Over 300 students competed in 28 national events.

Delta Epsilon Chi (DECA) is an international association of high school and college students studying marketing, management and entrepreneurship in business, finance, hospitality and marketing sales and service.

CCTI DECA sent 42 students and had 35 trophy winners and eight first place winners. These students all qualified to compete at the state conference this February in Hershey.

CCTI DECA adviser is Stephanie Barto, assisted by Bill Stoudt and Sandi Kohutka. This is CCTI DECA's 17th year.

Winners of the individual events were: Automotive Services Marketing, Brook Dunbar, first, Lehighton; Brittany Paules, third, Panther Valley; and Anthony Hollenback, sixth place, Palmerton. (first place.)

In Business Services Marketing, first place was Kristina Nunez of Jim Thorpe; Tasha Reis, second, Jim Thorpe; and Judy Stephens, fourth place, Palmerton.

Winners in Food Marketing were Melissa Macaluso, sixth place, Jim Thorpe; and Cheyenne Tilley, seventh, Palmerton.

Melissa Rivera of Jim Thorpe took first place in Hotel and Lodging Management, while Austin Rabenold of Palmerton took a fourth place.

Zach Carr of Jim Thorpe garnered a fifth place in Marketing Management

Gabrielle Achternamn of Lehighton won third place in Principles of Business Management and Administration and Tyler David of Panther Valley received a fifth place and Katterina Kattner of Jim Thorpe earned a seventh place. 3rd place-Winners of the Principals of Finance were Savannah Moyer of Palmerton, third place; and Kayla Hockenbury, fourth place.

Winners of Principals of Hospitality and Tourism were Kim Pimble of Pleasant Valley, first place; and Stephanna Costenbader of Palmerton, fifth place.

Taking a third place in the Principals of Marketing was Alexis Tobin of Panther Valley; and fifth place was Spencer Moyer of Palmerton; and Alexis Huber of Palmerton, a seventh place.

Ashley Pera of Jim Thorpe earned a seventh place in Quick Serve Restaurant Management

Lauren Tompkins of Jim Thorpe received a second place in Restaurant & Food Marketing Management.

Winners in Retail Merchandising were Alexis Young of Jim Thorpe, first place; Kelsey Onchak of Palmerton, second place; and Sandra Smith of Panther Valley, sixth place.

First place winner of the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Award was Jake Evans of Palmerton.

In the Team Events: Hospitality Service, were Tyler Frable of Palmerton, and Cheyenne Mckinely of Panther Valley, fourth place; and Kellyann Higgins of Palmerton and Ashley McLaughlin, Panther Valley, fifth place; Marketing Communications, Jalissa Higgins of Palmerton and Ashley McLaughlin, Panther Valley, first place; and Job Interview and Applications, Lauren Meyer, Weatherly, fifth place.
