Tip leads to 3 arrests in Tamaqua

Tamaqua police received a tip on March 30 about a possible meth lab in the 300 block of Hazle Street. While they didn’t find a drug lab they did find three individuals who had warrants for their arrests.

Police went to the home at 5:54 p.m. and spoke to the resident, who gave permission to search the place after denying there was a lab on the premises. Instead of a drug lab officers found Brian Fritz, “Jason Cruz” and Denise Latham. Fritz was wanted by Schuylkill County authorities, while Latham was wanted in Carbon County.

Cruz actually turned out to be Jason Krug, 35 of 401 Pine St., Tamaqua. When that name was entered into the system, warrants were found for Carbon County and Texas. The Texas warrant was for full extradition in connection with charges for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. When contacted Orange County, Texas authorities agreed to make arrangements for extradition.

When searching Krug, police found a capped hypodermic needle and a knife. Both were confiscated.

All three defendants were lodged in the Schuylkill County prison in Pottsville.
