Emergency responders were called to mile marker 136 (Ryan Township) on Interstate 81 around 1 p.m. Friday for a tractor-trailer over an embankment with entrapment. A witness said the tractor-trailer was driving south on SR81 when for some reason overshot the turn, drove through the grassy median, drove head-on in southbound traffic and then overturned the rig on top of guard rails. The tractor-trailer, hauling used cardboard, missed a concrete support to Lofty Road, which traverses over SR81, by about 20 feet. Firefighters added that the driver got out by himself and was walking around the rig when they arrived. Responding were fire companies from Ryan Township, McAdoo, Delano and others. The male driver was taken via Ryan Township Ambulance to St. Luke's Hospital in Coaldale for stitches and minor injuries. State Police are investigating.
