Lehighton Ambulance begins annual fund drive

The Lehighton Ambulance is currently conducting the 2013 subscription fund drive.

If you reside or have a home/business in Lehighton, Franklin Township, Penn Forest Township, Jim Thorpe, Summit Hill, Weissport or Parryville, you should have received a subscription packet in the mail.Lehighton is the primary emergency medical provider, offering both BLS (Basic Life Support) and ALS (Advanced Life Support) services for these areas. There are sections in Mahoning Township, East Penn Township, and Towamensing Township that are 911 serviced by Lehighton Ambulance. If you dial 911, and Lehighton Ambulance Association is the ambulance service that is dispatched as primary basic life support and advanced life support, you should subscribe to the Lehighton Ambulance Association. It will be this association primarily responsible for your 911 request. Members are a combination of volunteers and career staff covering your communities, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.Officials of Lehighton Ambulance explained that a subscription is not the same as a donation. With a subscription you or your household would be covered for the out of pocket expenses above what your insurance pays on emergency ambulance transportation. Lehighton Ambulance Association will bill your insurance company for services provided. Some insurances pay the patient directly. The patient is responsible and required by law to forward that amount or the endorsed check to Lehighton Ambulance. If the subscriber does not have medical insurance coverage, the entire cost of the emergency service will be covered by their subscription.During the subscription drive, donations are also gladly accepted. If you would like to donate in addition to subscribing, please just note your amount in the space on the subscription card. In addition, we graciously accept donations from any businesses that would like to support us, as we are a 501(c)3 non profit corporation. The types of subscriptions are as follows:• Individual - $45.00 - includes services for the subscriber only• Household - $65.00 - Will cover anyone who resides in the residence, as well as your visitors if they are in need of emergency ambulance service from your residence. Please be advised that any amount submitted which is less than the amount stated above will be considered a donation, not a subscription and the above benefits of subscription will not apply. Your subscription will not be valid until payment is received. For subscribers that use electronic banking to pay subscription, we ask that you please note "for annual subscription" in the comment field so that your payment is posted correctly.Lehighton Ambulance is an independent non-profit organization, not a municipal service. As such, the association relies on subscriptions to insure that state of the art pre-hospital emergency care will be there when you need it most.If you have not received your subscription fund drive envelope, and you live in the aforementioned areas, or in any other area that Lehighton Ambulance has primary coverage, phone (610) 377-5155, ext 2 and one will be mailed to you.
