A Weatherly man has been charged by Tamaqua Police following an incident on Jan. 23 in the area of Fegley's Mini Mart, 30-32 Center St.

Sgt. Rick Weaver and Patrolman Thomas Rodgers were on patrol at 2 a.m. when they observed a male acting suspiciously in the area behind the Sunoco Gas Station. The male was carrying a bag and appeared to be attempting to avoid detection. After the male, later identified as Christopher White, 26, entered the mini mart, officers approached him and questioned what he was doing behind the store at that time of the morning. They were told he was walking to the mini mart from a friend's place on Mauch Chunk Street, a roundabout way route of travel.

White gave officers permission to search his bag, where they found a silver pipe, a digital scale, empty plastic baggies and silver screens for the pipe. White was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
