The engagement of Kristin Danchak of Emmaus to Robert Bekesy, also of Emmaus, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of John and Donna Danchak of Albrightsville. She has a bachelor of science degree in nursing from College Misericordia and is employed as a clinical coordinator of the recovery room at St. Luke's University Hospital in Bethlehem.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Linda Sini of Stewartsville, N.J. and Robert Bekesy of Jim Thorpe. He has a bachelor of science degree in education from Shippensburg University and a master of science degree in curriculum and instruction from Penn State.

He is employed as a sixth-grade science and math teacher at Gilbertsville Elementary School in Boyertown, Pa.

The couple became engaged during a vacation in Peru after a four-day trek to Machu Picchu. They are planning to wed June 28, 2014.
