A Slatington woman and a Blakeslee man have been arrested for allegedly abusing and neglecting the woman's 3-year-old son, who is hospitalized with severe head injuries.
Marie Kramer and Adam Greenblott, both 24, of the 100 block of Stonecrest Road, Blakeslee, punched the boy and bashed his head against a bathtub, knocking him unconscious on Nov. 24, Pocono Mountain Regional Police said.
Greenblott was charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment. Kramer was charged with conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police and West End Ambulance were called 6:45 p.m. Nov. 30 to Greenblott's home, where Greenblott told officers he didn't see what happened, but only heard a "thud" in the bathroom as the child took a shower.
Kramer was not home at the time, police said.
The boy was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, where, police said, an investigation by police and the Monroe County Children and Youth Agency determined that Greenblott caused the injuries.
The investigation also revealed a history of prior abuse and assaults occurring over the past several weeks while the child was in his care, police said.
Paramedics on the scene Nov. 30 found that the child had older injuries to his head, face, ears and abdomen, police said.
Greenblott was arrested and arraigned by District Judge Kristina Anzini and sent to Monroe County Prison under $250,000 straight cash bail.
Kramer also was arraigned and released on $50,000 unsecured bail.
Police said the Children and Youth Agency has custody of the boy.
