Religious classes

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will hold no religious education classes now through Jan. 3.

Classes resume Jan. 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Food pantry closed

Effort UMC's Food Pantry will be closed Dec. 28. Regular hours will be held in January.

Saturday services

The Saturday evening service at Effort UMC will be held at 5 p.m., Dec. 28.

Regularly scheduled services will also be held on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

LIHEAP help

The Pennsylvania Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps low income people pay their heating bills through home heating energy assistance grants and crisis grants.

Chestnuthill Center

The seniors meeting at the Chestnuthill Center at 1919 Route 209, Brodheadsville (Zion Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall) are scheduled to meet only on Friday of this week, and on Jan. 3 for the first week of the year due to the holidays.

Saturday movie

The Western Pocono Community Library will offer "Turbo," a PG movie this Saturday beginning promptly at 1 p.m. in the Community Room. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Sunday Suppers

Our Lady Queen of Peace Community Sunday Supper for its neighbors will be from 3-4 p.m., Sunday.

Family Promise

Zion Lutheran in Brodheadsville will host Family Promise the week of Dec. 29.

PVEN needs

The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network's food and clothing pantry has several needs, including peanut butter and cereals. Also needed are no-show socks for students in the Pleasant Valley School District. Donations can be brought directly to PVEN, located at the corner of McIlhaney Road and Greenview Drive behind the Chestnuthill Diner, from 9-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and Fridays, or by appointment.

McMichaels Methodist

Bible study will resume at McMichaels UMC at 7 p.m., Jan. 7. All are welcome. There will be a concerted effort to keep the study to one hour at most.
