Stephen Lily, assistant chief of the Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company, was "Services Person of the Year" in Kidder Township.

Every year the Kidder Township Fire Commission recognizes one person from the fire or ambulance service for outstanding service to the community for the year.

Kidder Township has three volunteer fire companies: Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company and Lake Harmony Volunteer Fire Company. Lake Harmony Ambulance Company is also located in Kidder Township.

"We ask each of the fire companies and the ambulance service to select one member of their company for consideration," explained Ralph Lennon, Lake Harmony fire chief and chairman of the fire commission. "Each person chosen then submits a resume detailing their background in the services and their current accomplishments. The resumes, without names, are sent to an independent group outside the township to review and select one member to receive the award."

Lilly has been a firefighter since 1974 when he was a junior fire fighter at Swedesville Fire Company. Lilly remained at Swedesville until 2004 when he moved to Albrightsville. In 2008 Lilly was elected to represent the North East Pennsylvania Fire Fighters Association and in 2013 he became vice president of the Pennsylvania Fire Fighters Association.

In addition to Lilly, three other volunteers who received awards acknowledging their service to their organization and their community were Bruce Burger, chief of Albrightsville Volunteer Fire Company; Bill Bresnick, chief of Kidder Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, and Gene Getz of Lake Harmony Ambulance Company.
