A Nesquehoning man has been charged with assaulting a juvenile female.
Borough police said Glenn Howard Arthur, 51, of 200 E. Center St., has been charged with aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and harassment.
Police said the incident occurred on Dec. 11. About 9 p.m. police were dispatched to 200 E. Center St., for a 9-1-1 hang-up call. At the scene police were met by Arthur who said this his children accidentally dailed the emergency number. Police then left the scene.
At 9:25 p.m. police were sent back to the residence for a report of a juvenile female being assaulted.
As the result of an investigation, police learned Arthur allegedly assaulted the eight-year-old girl of his live-in girlfriend while in a drunken raged because she had made the 9-1-1 call. He then fled the home before the arrival of police.
The girl told officers she called 9-1-1 earlier because she feared Arthur was going to assault her mother, as he had done before, the girl claimed.
Police found Arthur walking along Hazard St. and took him into custody. He was later charged. The juvenile girl was evaluated by emergency medical services and then transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Arthur was arraigned on the charges and committed to the county prison. Patrolman Dane O'Brien is the investigating officer.
