The house the Luttes built took first place in Dimmick Memorial Library's sixth annual gingerbread house contest, group division.

Not your typical gingerbread house, the Lutte family, from Jim Thorpe, featured a mushroom-shaped house complete with a beach scene, tropical trees and a couple of smurfs playing at the beach in their 12-inch by 18-inch creation.Second place in the group division went to Jim Thorpe's Cub Pack 138. Their entry recreated a winter camping scene at Mauch Chunk Lake, complete with tents, a campfire and six gingerbread Cub Scouts.The winner of the child division was Albrightsville's Hailey Clark, who crafted a gingerbread doghouse, and dog lounging in the grass. Lehighton's Laura Holloway's spinning carousel took first place in the adult division.The panel of three judges included Grace Gilkeson, Mary Mulligan and David Price. The winners will receive prizes donated by the Old Jail Museum in Jim Thorpe.
