O come all ye faithful

The lower level of the Lutheran Church of St. John (located in the heights section of Jim Thorpe) is brimming over with the true spirit of Christmas.

The sixth Annual Indoor Nativity Display will be held at the church, which is located at 319 South Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 7 and Sunday, Dec. 8 from noon until 5 p.m. each day.Nativity sets and related items on display range from newly purchased to very old family heirlooms. The items belong to church members who are dedicated collectors and to those who have received the symbol of the season as gifts. Some of the nativity sets are treasures that families display year after year. The nativities are made of a wide variety of materials that include ceramic, wood, pewter, glass, beeswax, tin, cloth and more. They range in size from about an inch to figurines more than a foot tall, that need an entire table of their own to display. There is also a lit Christmas tree in the center of the room, filled with ornaments representing the Holy Family.St. John's Church welcomes the public to attend its annual Nativity Display and leisurely browse over the more than 500 inspiring items, and to center your thoughts on the real meaning of the Christmas season.Admission is free, and light refreshments will be served.Last year over 245 people made their way to the church in the heights to view the display. This year, to help even more visitors attend, a trolley shuttle will be available for transportation from the historic downtown of Jim Thorpe to the church each day from 1-4 p.m.For a map of the church please visit
