The fire truck will park to signify the arrival of the jolly old man dressed in red and white.

Indeed, the mood figures to be festive during the annual Slatington Tree Lighting event, to be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Slatington.

Once again sponsored by the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce, the always popular tree lighting event will be held at Slatington Memorial Park, 509 Main Street, across from the Slatington Baptist Church.

Prior to the lighting of the tree, Santa will arrive by fire truck for photos with the kids.

In addition, hot chocolate and cookies will be served as guests listen to caroling led by the Northern Lehigh Freedom Chorus.

Also as part of the event, the group will collect unwrapped toys for the Tots For Tots program.

Those who attend are urged to bring an unwrapped toy that will benefit a Lehigh Valley child.
