Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tamaqua had six children receive their first Holy Communion on Nov. 24, which is Christ the King Sunday. The children attended three weeks of instruction where they learned about God's gift of love and forgiveness given through this sacrament. They also learned that this is a special meal where participants remember Jesus, God's greatest gift. Their parents also attended these classes sharing in their child's faith journey. The children are from left to right, Nicholas Wall, Alexandra Frederick, Katelyn Rudy, McKenzie Ansbach and Kasey Ansbach. Missing from picture is Jacob Rudy. With the children are Deb Davies, First Communion leader, and the Rev. Richard Hinkle.
