As students and parents across the area prepared for the start of classes, Mrs. Habel, Director of Religious Education, prepared for the start of Religious Education Classes.
Students who attend public school receive their religious formation through parish programs, and in the Tamaqua Area, catholic students attend classes Sunday mornings in the Saint Jerome Regional School building, 250 W. Broad St., Tamaqua.
The youngest children entering Grade 1 will be taught by Denise Linkhorst, who is a full-time educator in the Pleasant Valley School District. Linkhorst, and the rest of the volunteer staff of the Saint Jerome Regional Religious Education Program are preparing lesson plans in anticipation of the start of classes Sunday, Sept. 8. The children and their teachers will meet in the church building at 8:55 a.m. Classes will dismiss at 10:15 a.m.
The class sessions fall in between mass times at Saint Jerome, and Saints Peter and Paul Parishes, Tamaqua. Returning students are reminded they need to re- register for classes by completing an Updated Family Information Form and paying the registration fee.
New students will need to make an appointment to complete the necessary registration forms.
Mass times for the Church of Saint Jerome, 260 W. Broad St., Tamaqua are: Saturday 4 p.m.; and Sunday 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The Children's Liturgy of the Word is taught by Mary Ann Slivka at the 11 a.m. liturgy for children in kindergarten through Grade 2.
Mass times for the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua are: Saturday 5 p.m.; and Sunday 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
