A Staten Island, N.Y., man is facing rape charges in Monroe County stemming from his alleged sexual assault of his 14-year-old niece.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Frederick Darnel Marshal, 31, was arraigned before District Justice Anthony Fluegel on charges of rape, incest, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault and terroristic threats.

Bail was set at $100,000 and Marshal was committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville, pending a preliminary hearing scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 11 before Fluegel.

Police said the incident happened at A Pocono Country Place development on Aug. 26.

Police said they responded at 6:53 p.m. to Winding Way for a reported sexual assault. Their investigation revealed Marshal had recently come to Pennsylvania and was staying with relatives. While at the residence, police said, he sexually assaulted the niece who was living there.

Police said Marshal was immediately arrested at the residence.
