Slatington history book
To help commemorate the 150th anniversary of Slatington, the history committee of Slatington is publishing a history book about Slatington. The book, entitled "Slatington 150: More Stories To Share," will be published by Chernay Printing of Coopersburg.
It will include family histories, profiles on notable Slatingtonians, disasters to hit Slatington, histories of businesses, churches and volunteer organizations and previously unpublished photos. In addition, it will include a comprehensive sports history of Slatington and Northern Lehigh high school teams.
Only 500 copies will be printed.
Delivery of the book is expected in the second half of 2014. Orders will be taken during the Slatington 150th Kickoff Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 24, between 4 and 8 p.m., at the Covered Bridge on Seventh Street in Slatington.
To help offset the cost, page sponsorships for $25 and a patron list for $5 are being offered. Patrons can sponsor the subject matter or family history of their choosing. Page sponsors will appear in bold at the bottom of the book's pages. Patron list sponsors will be listed at the back of the book.
The history committee is also still looking for people to submit old photos, postcards, family histories and anecdotes/memories to be included in the book.
Persons interested in submitting information may upload information to the committee's Facebook page "Slatington 150 History Committee," or email email@example.com, firstname.lastname@example.org, or email@example.com.
