A workshop about the efforts of the American Chestnut Foundation to restore the American Chestnut to our eastern woodlands will be held on Sept. 7 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Tremont Borough Community Center, 139 Clay St., Tremont. The benefits that chestnuts provide our environment, wildlife and society will be discussed.
Feature presenter is Sara Fitzsimmons, coordinator for the American Chestnut Foundation and a research technician at Penn State.
There is a fee, which covers refreshments, bus transportation to a chestnut plantation, and a group tour at the site.
