Area fairgoers can enjoy the Carbon County Fair one day longer than planned.
The additional day is due to inclement weather on Friday, which caused the fair committee to cancel the fair yesterday except for agricultural events. The fair will be open today and Sunday, beginning at noon.
On Saturday, the regular schedule of events will be held, which includes an antique field stock tractor pull at 4 p.m. in the arena; and a country spectular event throughout the day on the main stage.
At 2 p.m., visitors can enjoy music by The Hawks; 4 p.m., is Joe Bonson and Coffee Run; Brooke Unger takes the stage at 6:30; The Cramer Brothers at 7:30; and at 9:30 p.m., The Big Jam Session, including The Cramer Brothers; Brooke Unger; and Joe Bonson and Coffee Run.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the horse show, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been canceled; and Jimmy and the Parrots, which was scheduled for Friday evening, will be rescheduled next year.
Sunday, the fair will open at noon and close at 9 p.m. There is a wide array of food, agricultural displays, exhibits, entertainment and rides that will continue both days.
Earl Reabold, entertainment chairperson, noted that Sunday's entertainment will feature an "All Star Show" at 4, 6, and 8 p.m., with The Hawks and special guests, Nicole Donatone, Randy and R.J. Cramer, and possibly a few other surprises.
Other midway entertainment will include Clowns Dapper Dan & Buster, a "Hit and Miss" engine display, Farmer for a Day, Smokey Bear, and more.
A demolition derby, originally scheduled for Friday, featuring full-size and compact cars will be held on Sunday at 4 p.m.
Animals and still exhibits will continue to be on display on Saturday and limited still exhibits will be available on Sunday.
Still exhibits participants can obtain their entries on Sunday between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., by entering the agricultural gate only. All participants must bring their claim ticket to gain entry to the fairgrounds.
The annual 4-H Livestock luncheon/sale will be held by special invitation on Saturday at 11 a.m., followed by the 4-H livestock sale at 1 p.m. The Carbon County Fair Ambassador for 2013 will be recognized during this time.
