Blue Valley Mountain Lions reach Softball World Series

The Blue Valley Mountain Lions had a successful spring and summer season winning one tournament, finishing second in another and qualifying for the U14 Softball World Series in Ocean City, Maryland. The Mountain Lions earned their berth in the World Series by capuring first place in the March Madness II Tournament. During the course of the season they also finished second in the USSSA Extreme Summer Heat Tournament and had third place finishes in two other tournaments. The team capped its season by placing ninth out of 60 teams at the Softball World Series. Team members include, front row, from left, Kate Bisio, Brianna McDonald, Sophia Starner, Natalie Wieczorek, Alyssa Acker and coach Jason Kocsis. Back row, coach Serena Smith, Jenna Scheller, Nikki Kessler, Madi Kymer, Lexi Kessler, Reese Dugan, Andreana Yerger and coach Dennis Suranofsky. Both Acker and Dugan were members of the Palmerton High School varsity softball team this past season.
