Because of heavy rain this morning, and the prediction for more showers and thunderstorms throughout this afternoon and evening, the Carbon County Fair won't be held today.

Alicia L. Shutack-Silliman, fair treasurer, said an extra day is being added to the event, which was scheduled to close Saturday.

The fair will be held from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

She said an announcement will be made later today regarding activities at the fair on Sunday, adding that not all arrangements were made this morning.

A demolition derby had been scheduled for 7 p.m. at the fair. In addition, Layne Roberts, "The Doc" from Penn's Peak Radio, was to be on the main stage at 5 p.m., followed by Jimmy and the Parrots at 7 and 9 p.m.

Tomorrow there's a full line-up of entertainment.

It includes:

Ÿ 2 p.m. - The Hawks.

Ÿ 4 p.m. - Joe Bonson & Coffee Rush.

Ÿ 6:30 p.m. - Brooke Unger.

Ÿ 7:30 p.m. - The Cramer Brothers.

Ÿ 9:30 p.m. - Jam Session featuring the Cramer Brothers, Brooke Unger, and Joe Bonson & Coffee Rush.
