Drug agents from the Pennsylvania office of the Attorney General, assisted by local police and the Carbon County Emergency Management coordinator, on Thursday night raided a home at 346 W. Patterson St., Lansford, where a person was allegedly manufacturing methamphetamine.

Firefighters from American Fire Co. No. 1, Lansford, stood by, several in full turnout gear and air packs. Two trucks were ready, engines running and hoses unfurled, in the event of an explosion or other reaction from the volatile chemicals used to make the drug.Authorities removed the "mobile meth lab" equipment plastic bottles with attached hoses and other paraphernalia from the home shortly before 10 p.m.Few details were available as of early Friday. All information, including the name of the suspect and any charges, would come from the Attorney General's office.Authorities removed a woman and two children, ages 2 and 4, from the house, which faces the former Kiddie Kloes factory across a parking lot. Assistant Fire Chief Joe Greco bought diapers for the children, and went to a nearby store for peanut butter and jelly to make them sandwiches. The children were then placed in the custody of Carbon County Children and Youth Services, said Lansford Det./Sgt. Jack Soberick.The woman and children were decontaminated by fire company and Lansford ambulance volunteers. The decontamination was a precautionary measure due to the chemicals.Police from Lansford, Coaldale, Summit Hill and Lansford assisted in the raid. Firefighters began to wrap up at about 10:15 p.m.
