Two Schuylkill County residents have been charged with abuse of an elderly person.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said John Bohn, 46, and his wife, Catherine Bohn, 48, both of 33 Atlantic St., Pottsville, Norwegian Township, have been charged with neglect in the care of their elderly mother, Catherine Bohn, 87.
Troopers said over an approximately two year period the two and the victim lived together at their residence. During that period the two allowed their elderly mother to live in a condition that allowed her to develop a series of medical issues.
Troopers alleged that the defendants never sought medical care for their mother nor did they appropriately care for her everyday needs.
As a result of their actions the mother had to receive treatment in the emergency room of the Schuylkill Medical Center-E. Norwegian St., Pottsville.
Troopers charged the pair with neglect of care-dependent person, and recklessly endangering another person. The charges were filed at the office of District Judge David Plachko, of Port Carbon.
Troopers were assisted in the investigation by the county district attorney's office and the county's senior services office.
