According to the Pocono District of Penn State Extension, a "Technology Tuesdays: Animal Welfare and the Dairy Industry" free online workshop designed for dairy producers, their employees and advisers will be held from 8:30-10 a.m. Tuesday, April 23.

Animal welfare continues to be a hot topic in not just the dairy industry, but in animal agriculture in general. Discussed will be the importance of third party evaluations and the relationship between the score, cow comfort and production.

Other topics will include the health care needs of the herd and lameness cause and effect. The online workshop will be presented by Dan McFarland and John Tyson, Penn State Extension engineers, along with the Penn State Extension veterinarians.

Registration is free, but was required by noon today. For those unable to access the webinar live, the session will be recorded for use at a later time and can be found at http://extension.psu.edu/animals/dairy/health/educational-programs/techn...
