A large amount of suspected drug money was seized following a traffic stop in Monroe County.

State police at Lehighton said Erick Alexis Vispo Torres, 33, of Puerto Rico, was stopped about 4:10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, along SR209 at Weir Lake Road, in Chestnuthill Township, for a vehicle code violation.

Upon further investigation it was discovered that Torres was in possession of a large amount of money located on his person. The money at the time was seized as it was suspected with drug activity.

K9 65 and K9 Micho then conducted a canine sniff of the money and the result was positive for drugs.

Seized was $24,397. Troopers said an asset forfeiture action is now occurring.
