Lehighton and Weatherly picked up baseball wins on Wednesday afternoon.

In other action, Pleasant Valley grabbed a softball and tennis win and Palmerton also won in tennis.

PM East-Lehighton

Lehighton scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 3-3 tie with Pocono Mountain East en route to a 6-3 win in Mountain valley Conference play.

Jacen Nalesnik went two-for-two for the Indians, scoring two runs and driving in two more runs with a home run in the third.

The Indians' Josh Kern finished with two singles, while Brady Niehoff added a single and two runs scored.

Lehighton jumps to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the MVC.

Marian-Tri Valley

Tri-Valley took advantage of the control issues that plagued the Marian pitchers en route to a 4-1 Schuylkill League win.

Walks by the Colts in the early going allowed Tri Valley to open up an early lead that was too much for Marian to overcome.

Marian had the bases loaded on multiple occasions, but the Colts were unable to capitalize.

Kevin Hinkle fired a five-hit shutout, struck out eight and didn't walk a batter as the Wreckers (1-1, 1-0) rolled to a 10-0 five-inning win over the Devils in a Schuylkill League Division II contest.

Brian Maiello had two hits and drove in three runs for Weatherly, while Brett Stallone had two hits and two RBI. Robbie Hinkle had a two-run single in the second inning.

Pocono Mountain East put up 11 runs over the final three innings to outlast Lehighton 14-7 in the Mountain Valley Conference opener for both teams.

Nicole Bartron went 4-for-5 for the Lady Cardinals and Skylar Transue added a triple.

Autumn Bickert took the loss for the Lady Indians (1-2, 0-1).

Pleasant Valley rolled over East Stroudsburg North in Mountain Valley Conference play, 19-3.

The catalyst for the Lady Bears' (1-4, 1-0) offense was Jordan Meckes, who went 2-for-2 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Katie Lenart went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and four runs scored for Pleasant Valley.

Rikki Correll picked up the win, allowing three runs and striking out six.

Marly Laubach's two-hitter on the mound helped Northampton score an 11-1 non-conference win over Northern Lehigh in five innings.

The Bulldogs' Taylor Herman (single, walk, run scored) and Kianna Marlatt (single) accounted for the lone hits off of Laubach, who finished with 13 strikeouts.

Erin Tiwold led the Konkrete Kids with a triple and two RBIs, while Hannah Peters recorded a double, walk and a run scored.

Northern Lehigh slips to 1-3 overall on the season.

The Cavaliers dominated many of the events, cruising to a 98-52 win.

The Bears' did well in the middle-distance events with John Wathen (800), Alex Larkin (1600) and Mason Buskirk (3200) picking up event wins.

Dakota Everett also picked up a win for Pleasant Valley, taking the shot put.

In the girls meet, Pleasant Valley took advanatge of strong performances in the middle-distance events to earn a close, 78-72 win.

Kaitlyn Smith (400), Melissa Russo (800), Samantha Young (1600) and Dana McAllister (3200) all earned victories for the Lady Bears.

Lehighton-Stroudsburg

The Mountaineers rolled to wins in both boys and girls Mountain Valley Conference action over the Indians.

On the boys side, Stroudsburg won by a 131-19 score, while in girls competition, it picked up a 114-36 win.

The Indians' Dom Mystkowski won the pole vault (11-0) and the 3200 relay team of Devin Steigerwalt, Daulto Radler, Alex Rubin and Jeffrey Ebbert also won with a time of 9:03.

Gwen Remaley won the shot put (40-9 1/2) and Sarah Keer the javelin (101-1) for the Lady Indians
