Theft charges filed against Lansford man

Barry Schlier, 31, of 14 W. Bertsch St., Lansford, faces charges from an incident which took place on April 2. Charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property were filed by Officer Brian Horos.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, here's what happened:At 2:10 p.m., April 2, Horos received a dispatch about a theft at 343 W. Abbott St. He arrived and was greeted by property owners Monique Orr and Merissa Zielinski. They said they had rented the house to Schlier and his paramour, Dana Lincovich, from May 1, 2011 to March 2012.When Schlier moved in, he asked the owners if they would leave the Maytag washer and dryer because his had broken. Orr and Zielinski agreed to leave the appliances for Schlier and his family to use.After Schlier and his family were evicted from the house, Orr and Zielinski went there on April 2 to find the house in disarray, and the washer and dryer gone.A next-door neighbor said he had seen Schlier moving the appliances out.Horos spoke with Schlier via phone on Aug. 29, and he admitted to taking the appliances. Remuneration of $975.10 is requested.
