Lehighton Fire Department had 19 calls during August

The Lehighton Fire Department responded to 19 calls during August.

Gary Frable, fire chief, said six of the calls were for motor vehicle accidents and six were for rescues.There were four automatic alarms during the month.Other calls were for odor investigations, electrical wires, and miscellaneous.Of the responses, nine were in Lehighton borough, five were in Mahoning Township, and the remaining five were mutual aid to other municipalities.The firefighters spent nearly 23 hours collectively on the calls and three hours and 28 minutes of clean-up time.Frable said there were three weekly training sessions held and three different meetings conducted.A total of 88 man hours were spent maintaining apparatus, equipment, and stations.There was a total of 142 man hours of in-house training and 96 man hours of outside training.
