Friday night in Brodheadsville, Pleasant Valley showed why it has one of the most explosive offenses in the area.

The Bears scored on each of their first four possessions and never looked back in their Mountain Valley Conference match-up with Lehighton. All four of those touchdowns went for over 60 yards, including two 70-yarders, and took a total of just ten plays to score. In the end it was Pleasant Valley running away with the 54-0 victory."We have some guys that can really do some nice things," said Pleasant Valley head coach Jim Terwilliger. "Our offensive front has done a heck of a job, while the guys on the outside are working hard and competing."We believe that at any point in the game we have an opportunity to score. We had some chances tonight and the guys took advantage of them."Pleasant Valley's Austyn Borre wasted no time turning on the jets, as he took his third handoff of the game 62 yards to the house. Borre went up the gut, side-stepped a would-be tackler, and out-raced the rest of the defense on his way to the score.The Bears' next possession would last just one play. Quarterback Brandon Leap hit tight end Dakota Everett on an out and watched as Everett literally ran over a Lehighton defender en route to a 60-yard touchdown.Leap then made things happen with his feet on his team's third possession. On third-and-nine, Leap rolled out to his right, somehow stayed in bounds down the near sideline and scampered 74 yards for a touchdown. Following a Lehighton punt, Leap hit Borre down the seam for another 76-yard score.Defensive end Marquis Brown would add another touchdown roughly five minutes before halftime when he picked up a fumble and ran it in from two yards out.Meanwhile, Lehighton had trouble getting anything going on offense. The Indians managed just 50 yards of offense in the first half and ended up with only 103 for the game."I can't say enough about our defense," said Terwilliger. "We have worked extremely hard at the defensive end and I am proud of our kids. They have taken an ownership toward defense."The old adage is 'offensive wins games and defense wins championships.' Well, we want to play for a championship so we have to play defense."Leap would tack on two more touchdown passes in the second half. He hit both of his receivers, Andrew Romeo and Sekou Jones, for 29-yard and 24-yard scores respectively. Backup running back Josh Perry capped the scoring with a 69-yard jaunt midway through the fourth.Pleasant Valley will have some tests coming up within the next few weeks. Next Saturday the Bears travel to Wyomissing to take on one of the better teams in the state. After that they take on Pocono Mountain East and Stroudsburg in succession."We have a heck of a run coming up here," Terwilliger said. "Our eyes are locked in on Wyomissing. They are the No. 3 ranked team in the state and we want to see where we are at. We felt as if we made some improvements as a program in week one, but the outcome was still the outcome."Right now we need a test to see exactly who we are. We are looking forward to next Saturday."
