The Palmerton Area Library at 402 Delaware Ave., is looking for Palmerton Area High School yearbooks to complete the collection currently housed in the Pennsylvania History Nook in the basement of the library.

The library has yearbooks starting with 1932 up to and including 2010. The following years are missing from the collection: 1933, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1937, 1943, 1944, 1946, 1947, 1948, 1953 and 1957.

The yearbook was called "The Mirror" in the early years. In 1949 the name was changed to "The L'Annuaire".

If anyone has access to yearbooks from the years listed above and would like to donate them to the library collection, please contact the library at (610) 826-3424.

The yearbooks are available to the public in the library only. They are not allowed out of the building.

Patrons may make copies of pages if they so desire. It is a very interesting collection and the public is encouraged to stop in and take a walk down memory lane.

The library is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The library has six computers available for the public to use. It also offers fax, copy and scanning services. The library is a PenTelaData Wi-Fi hot spot.

It has over 30,000 books, movies, magazines, newspapers and CDs available for check out. The library also has free e-books that patrons may download on their kindle, nook or other electronic reading device.

The Basement Book Sale is open during regular library hours this month with over 2,000 items available.

The book sale offers children's books, adult fiction, nonfiction, paperbacks, puzzles, DVDs, CDs, VHS tapes, books on tape and more. The shelves are overflowing and new items are arriving daily. All proceeds from the sale benefit the library's operating budget.
