Two Luzerne County residents were slightly injured in a one vehicle crash along Interstate 81 in Delano Township, Schuylkill County, that occurred about 8 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 14.

State police at Frackville said Mary P. Osterweil, 24, of Shavertown, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra southbound and attempting to negotiate a slight right curve when she lost control. The car went onto the east berm and into the median. The car then traveled about 1,000 feet in the center median before entering a drainage culvert just off the west berm of the northbound lanes.

The car then rolled over about four or five times before coming to rest just off the west berm in the culvert on all four tires. Osterweil was not wearing a seatbelt while her passenger, Michael A. Covin Jr., 31, of Wilkes-Barre, was wearing a seatbelt.

Both were taken to the Hazleton General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, troopers said. Troopers cited Osterweil for driving on roadways laned for traffic.
