Jim Thorpe and Pleasant Valley came out on top of girls volleyball matches on Tuesday.

In other local action, Lehighton won its boys soccer and golf matches, Pleasant Valley had a successful cross country meet and also won in girls tennis and Palmerton and Northern Lehigh were field hockey winners.VOLLEYBALLJim Thorpe-TamaquaJim Thorpe hosted the Blue Raiders in a tight volleyball match-up and after five grueling sets, it was Jim Thorpe that prevailed in the fifth for the closely-contested win, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 17-25, 15-8.Carly Trovinger led the winners with 23 assists, 13 service points, seven digs, five aces, and three kills. Devon Sweeney had eight kills, seven aces and three digs, while Rebecca Minehan had six service points, four kills and five digs and Rylee Devlin added five kills, four blocks and three digs.The Olympians also won the JV game by a 2-0 score.Stroudsburg-LehightonThe Lady Indians dropped a hard-fought decision to Stroudsburg in MVC volleyball action, as they lost 27-29, 25-23, 9-25, and 12-25 in four games.Tiff Thompson led the offensive strike with 12 kills and 12 service points, while Tia Rex had eight kills and eight service points.
