A popular choral group could return just in time to perform at the dedication of the Palmerton Veterans Memorial.
Past and present members of the "Holiday Homecoming Chorus" are encouraged to reunite in time for the ceremony, to be held at noon on Sunday, Nov. 11 in the borough park.
The idea is the brainchild of goodwill ambassadors Richard and Darlene Nothstein, of Palmerton, who would like to continue the rehearsals and present a Christmas Holiday Concert sometime in early-December.
"We would like our magnificent group to sing a few patriotic songs at the dedication," Richard Nothstein said. "This should be quite an event. All of you would make it really special."
As a result, Nothstein said former members, as well as new members, are asked to come together and prepare a vocal song "thank you" to honor our veterans, and help to officially deliver the memorial to the residents of the Palmerton area.
"In the past, we usually had about 45 area voices present a very pleasing musical experience to the audiences," he said. "The chorus has presented seven concerts over the past eight years, with the first two taking place at Penn's Peak, and the last honoring Jack Goodman, former music teacher in Palmerton and organist and choral director at many churches throughout the Lehigh Valley and beyond."
Nothstein added "anyone interested in joining the "Holiday Homecoming Chorus" is invited to join and enjoy the good things the group has to offer."
The first rehearsal will take place at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the First United Church of Christ, on Delaware Avenue next to the Palmerton Borough Hall.
Nothstein said Joe Plechavy has been kind enough to serve as the group's conductor once again.
Those who participate are asked to arrive early to sign in and get their music, Nothstein said.
Anyone who would like to participate may contact the Nothsteins at email@example.com, (610) 826-7339, or send a response to 526 Harvard Court, Palmerton, Pa 18071-1344, and include their name, address, telephone number, email address and voice part.
