Family and friends of a Tamaqua man held a healing candlelight vigil Thursday night at Tamaqua's South Ward Playground for a Tamaqua man stuck in a coma following a motorcycle accident late last month.
Seth Valentine, 32, has been in a coma at the St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Crest since a motorcycle accident that occurred on Aug. 25 on Route 248 in Bowmanstown.
The event, which consisted of a candlelight vigil, prayer circle and a lot of food, was also held to help Valentine's family pay medical expenses. Kim Johnson, Seth's mother, and other family members stated that Valentine, who is still in a coma, is improving a little every day and is expected to go through facial reconstruction surgery today.
Shannon Fredericks, Melissa Fredericks and Ashley Balsamo and all of Valentine's family and close friends stated their appreciation to the South Ward Playground and everyone who came out in support of him. Future events are planned to further help with medical expenses, such as a spaghetti dinner at the Tamaqua Elks Lodge on Sept. 29 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and an EGW Wrestling Show, Chinese auction and bake sale at 6 p.m. on October 6th at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.
