Farm market vouchers are still available

A limited number of farm market vouchers are still available for income-eligible people age 60 and above who have not yet received vouchers in 2012.

Older adults eligible for the program must present valid proof of age and residency, such as a Pennsylvania driver's license or state-issued identification card. In addition, those eligible must have turned 60 before Dec. 31 of this year. Income guidelines for eligibility are $20,665 for a single-person household and $27,991 for a two-person household.Vouchers may be obtained on Tuesdays between 9 a.m. and noon at the five senior community centers listed below.Diakon Community Services for Seniors is administering the 2012 Senior Farm Market Nutrition Program through the Schuylkill County Senior Community Centers. A program of the state Department of Agriculture, the Senior Farm Market Nutrition Program issues "Farm market vouchers" to eligible older adults.Locations are Shenandoah Senior Community Center, 116 N. Main St.; Mahanoy City Senior Community Center, 138 W. Centre St.; Pottsville Senior Community Center, 201 N. Centre St.; Tremont Senior Community Center, 139 Clay St., (the old Tremont High School); and the Schuylkill Haven Senior Community Center, 121 N.
