Pictured above Tamaqua is a blue reminder of Hurricane Isaac, which devastated the Southeast over the past week. The remnants of Isaac have joined with another weather front to bring soaking rains to our area. In addition to disrupting air traffic at many east coast airports, warm, humid air is likely to boost energy demand across the northeast today. In addition, large waves are expected to crash into East Coast beaches for the rest of the week as Tropical Storm Leslie, which is about 545 miles south-southeast of Bermuda with winds of 65 miles per hour, hits the coast. According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Leslie's tropical-storm-strength winds of at least 39 mph extend about 205 miles from its epicenter.
