As part of the Group Study Exchange Program of the Rotary Foundation, District 7410 is currently seeking four business leaders and professionals who are not Rotarians to visit Mexico in April 2013.
Through this program, teams of professionals exchange visits between paired areas in different countries. It involves a four-week visit, during which time team members share personal knowledge of their own country and experience the customs, vocations, and lifestyles of another.
According to Group Study Exchange District Chair Barb Petty, "The purpose of the program is to promote international understanding and good will through person-to-person contact."
While abroad, team members stay in Rotarians' homes and have the opportunity to meet their professional counterparts. They also give presentations to Rotary Clubs and other groups about their home country.
The Rotary Foundation provides a round-trip air ticket. In addition, local Rotarians in the host country provide meals, lodging, and group travel in their district. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses.
Interested applicants should be employed full-time in a "recognized business or profession." Professionals, ages 25 to 40, are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must live or be employed within Rotary District 7410 – which encompasses the Northeastern Pennsylvania counties of Bradford; Carbon; Lackawanna; Luzerne; Monroe; Pike; Susquehanna; Tioga; Wayne; and Wyoming.
Rotary International is the world's first service club organization, with more than 1.2 million members in 34,000 clubs worldwide. Rotarians are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to combat hunger, improve health and sanitation, provide education and job training, promote peace, and eradicate polio under the motto "Service Above Self."
