Lehighton and Tamaqua both recorded middle school football victories.
MIDDLE SCHOOL FOOTBALL
Lehighton's defense registered its fourth shutout of the year with a 41-0 blanking of Pocono Mountain West.
Offensively Mike Mayernik had four touchdowns on runs of 52, 68 and 2 yards and a 38-yard reception for the Indians. Zehner added a 32-yard touchdown reception and Seth Keiser had a 43-yard TD catch. He also had a two-point conversion and booted three extra points. Quarterback Cody Scherer was 5-for-6 for 164 yards and three touchdowns.
Gavin Zehner had three Interceptions, Dominic Polumbo had a fumble recovery and Santiago, Gillespie, and Didyoung had sacks to spearhead the Indians' big defensive effort.
Lehighton is now 7-1 on the season.
Tamaqua rolled to a 46-30 victory over Pottsville.
Dylan Barron ran for two touchdowns and passed for one to lead the Raiders to the victory. Quinten Perla, Josh Gordon and Josh Danner all had TD runs for Tamaqua while Ed Titus caught a touchdown pass.
Dylan Woods added a pair of conversions run and Barron had one. Barron also hit Titus and James Bynon with conversion passes.
