Costumes, floats and hair-raising fun is set to hit the streets of Slatington and Walnutport.
Those ready for a Spooktacular time should plan to attend the 105th annual Northern Lehigh Halloween Parade.
The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Main Street will be closed in Slatington at 5 p.m. to Walnut and Main. Main Street will be closed in Walnutport from Lincoln to Walnut Street in Slatington.
The three-division parade starts in Slatington, goes down Main Street, and then goes through Walnutport, where it ends at the Walnutport Playground on Lincoln Avenue.
Laura Stauffer, committee chair for the Northern Lehigh Events Committee Inc., said she anticipates the parade will be a fun-filled family event.
"Our goal, as always, is to let the community have a great night, and have all of our participants have a great night," Stauffer said. "Because it is a family night."
This year's event had been in jeopardy as recently as last month. At that time, Stauffer said there was a "strong chance" the event could be canceled due to what she termed a lack of community involvement.
A decision to hold the event was eventually reached during a volunteer meeting, Stauffer said.
