Several area residents were among 42 defendants who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges in Schuylkill County court recently and were sentenced by Judge Jacqueline Russell as follows:

Danny Todd Day, 49, of 514 Arlington St., Tamaqua, driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, placed in Intermediate Punishment Program (IPP) to serve six months on probation, fined $500, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to MCARE fund, complete alcohol highway safe driving school, receive outpatient counseling, perform 20 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months. On a summary charge of driving while his license was suspended-DUI related, was placed under house arrest for 90 days with electronic monitoring and pay a daily fee of $12. Day was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Thomas Duante, last Oct. 22.

Dustin Robert Gernert, 29, of 321 Hughes St., New Ringgold, two counts each of delivery, intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance (CS), serve nine to 36 months in the county prison, fined $600, pay $200 to SAE fund, $100 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA) fund, perform 40 hours community service, restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and $100 to Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.

Jeffrey Eugene Neifert, 25, of 402 E. Railroad Avenue, New Ringgold, paying rent with four bad checks, placed on probation 36 months, fined $100, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours community service, restitution of $1,905.50 to Commonwealth Commerce, LLC, Orwigsburg, and $50 to district attorney's office for bench warrant. Neifert was cited by Orwigsburg Patrolman Scott R. Davis.

David William Swank, 62, of 20 Chain Circle, New Ringgold, 19 bad checks for heating oil, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours community service, and make restitution of $40,000 to Central Highway Oil Company, Altamont Boulevard. West Mahanoy Township. Swank was cited by West Mahanoy Township Patrolman Raymond Tonkinson III.

Alexander W. Sommers Jr., 47, of W. White Street, Summit Hill, simple assault of Jariel Curtis, of Andreas, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service and have no contact with victim. Sommers was cited by West Penn Township Officer Melissa M. Boyer.

Eric Scott Younkin, 41, of 2828 John St., Easton, criminal mischief to PPL along Morea Road in West Mahanoy Township, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and make restitution of $1,813. Younkin was cited by Cpl. James Cuttita, state trooper.

Shawn Michael Tobin, 26, of 83 Washington St., Middleport, burglary, serve one to two years in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 31 days in the county prison, fined $100, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours community service and make restitution of $1,559.87 to Benjamin Riegel, Pottsville. Tobin was cited by Pottsville Patrolman Renee R. Galle.

John Patrick McLaughlin, Philadelphia, simple assault of Heather Lynn Morris, Delano Township, serve six to 23 months in county prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and have no contact with victim. Laughlin was cited by Trooper Arthur Wink Jr.

Kelly Ann Hartman, 43, Auburn, harassment, fined $300 plus costs.

Jason George Boyer, 37, Auburn, harassment, fined $300 plus costs.

Lisa Marie Scheibley, 43, Tremont, DUI of alcohol, serve 10 days in in the county prison beginning Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 9 a.m., followed by five months and 20 days on probation in IPP, fined $750, pay $100 to SAE fund, $100 to MCARE fund, attend safety school, receive outpatient counseling, make restitution of $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, perform 20 hours of community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months.

On a summary charge of driving while license was suspended-DUI related, serve 90 days under electronic monitoring and pay a $12 daily fee. On charges of careless driving and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $509 plus $100 costs. Scheibley was cited by Branch Township Patrolman John Zurat.

Matthew Thomas Riddick, 59, Shenandoah, criminal attempt to commit theft of 18 pieces of iron from Bear Ridge Machine and Fabrication Company, West Mahanoy Township, and driving while operating privileges were suspended-DUI related, serve three to 12 months in the county prison, fined $1,000, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service. Riddick was cited by Cpl. Jim Donnini, state trooper.

Tammy Marie Laboda, also known as Tammy Pytak, 35, Verona, retail theft from Kmart Store, Schuylkill Mall, placed on probation 24 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 30 hours community service, and make restitution of $68.47. Laboda was cited by Trooper Michael P. Becker.

Thomas Michael Scornavacchi, 52, Route 423, North Manheim Township, theft of cash from a safe, placed on probation 36 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours community service, and make restitution of $498.50 to LaVerne McDemus and Ernie Schaeffer Jr., of Route 423, North Manheim Township. He was cited by Trooper Robert Kluge.

William Amon Briscoe, 34, Manchester, Conn., DUI of alcohol while operating a commercial vehicle, 48 hours to six months in county prison, fined $500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to MCARE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center, attend safety school, perform 10 hours community service, and driver's license suspended 12 months. On a charge of failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $25 plus $50 costs. Briscoe was cited by Trooper George Shimko when stopped on Interstate 81 in Pine Grove Township.

Andrew Joseph Svercek, 42, Orwigsburg, simple assault, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, enroll in Anger Management Class, undergo drug and alcohol evaluation, and make restitution of $311.52 to Matthew Lutz, of Coal Mountain Road. Michelle Lynn Dalessandro, 37, Mohrsville, burglary of home of Timothy Naftzinger, Port Clinton, serve eight to 23 months in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 84 days, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. William Joseph Long, 21, Pottsville, burglary of Scott Milwork Company building in Cressona, serve one to 23 months in county prison. On a second burglary count of the same building, serve an additional 23 months probation, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 30 hours community service, make restitution of $400 to the victim, and have no contact with the victim. Mohammad Faqar Uddin, 22, Lansdale, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, 12 months probation, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab, and perform 20 hours community service. Uddin was cited by Trooper Mark W. Knock when stopped on SR61 in West Brunmswick Township.

Mark John Schriner Sr., 48, Pottsville, theft by deception to obtain resident's in Pottsville Housing Authority apartment, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and make restitution of $404 to housing authority. Travis Snyder, 31, Hegins, possession of a controlled substance (CS), credit for serving 116 days in the county prison was released on parole for 12 months. On a charge of possession of a CS, placed on probation six months to run consecutive, fined $200, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, perform 40 hours of community service, restitution of $150 to Hegins Police Department, and $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab.

Anthony David Beck, Tower City, DUI of alcohol, serve one to five years in the county prison beginning Monday, Oct. 29, at 9 a.m., fined $1,500, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA fund, $100 to MCARE fund, attend safety school, receive outpatient substance abuse counseling, and driver's license suspended 18 months. On summary charges of failing to drive on right side of road and on roadway laned for traffic fined $50 plus $100 costs. Beck was cited by Trooper Peter Mohn when stopped on SR209 in Tower City. On a charge of tattooing a minor was placed on probation to run concurrent to the DUI sentence, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service. Beck was cited by Tower City Sgt. Edward Fredericks, 38, Pottsville, entered a plea of nollo conendere (no defense) to four counts of theft, and five counts of receiving stolen property and was sentenced to serve six to 12 months in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service and make restitution of $1,500 to Hidden Treasurer's Shop, Pottsville. Shawn Michael Bonowitz, 25, Pine Grove, burglary, theft, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief, serve 18 to 36 months in a state correctional facility with credit for serving 29 days in the county prison, fined $300, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and make restitution of $2,307.50 for copper pipes removed from home owned by David Weaver, Pine Grove. Bonowitz was cited by Trooper John Sleboda.

Keith Dean Kintzel Jr., 21, Pottsville, theft of vehicle, serve six to 23 months in the county prison with credit for serving 56 days, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service. Leon Allen Schappell III, 22, Schuylkill Haven, criminal attempt to commit theft by passing bogus $20 bills and theft by deception, placed on probation 24 months, pay $100 to CJEA fund, perform 40 hours of community service, and make restitution of $18 to Burger King fast food restaurant on SR183 in North Manheim Township. Brian Lee Brobst, 30, Auburn, criminal mischief to private property, received credit for serving 17 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and make restitution of $472.23 to Walter Miechowski, Center Turnpike, West Brunswick Township. Dusty Allen Knoll, 23, Pine Grove, resisting arrest, placed on probation 18 months, fined $200, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. On a charge of harassment of Dayna Palmateer, Pine Pine, fined $50 and costs. Knoll was cited by PIne Grove Cpl. Christopher Cruz.

Brandon Marvin Merwine, 27, Joliett, Tremont Township, receiving stolen property, serve three to 23 months in the county prison beginning Monday, Nov. 12, at noon, fined $100, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. On summary charges of windshield obstruction, defective exhaust system, and bald tires, was fined $75 plus $150 costs. Merwine was cited by Trooper Jeffrey Hummel.

Bambi Marie Friday, 34, Wilkes-Barre, possession of drug paraphernalia and giving a false ID to police, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours of community service. Friday was cited by Trooper Brian Walters on Eleanor Avenue in West Mahanoy Township.

Justin Lee Tielman, 28, Pottsville, retail theft from Sears Store at Schuylkill Mall, serve six to 12 months in the county prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service. Tielman was cited by Trooper Thomas Powell. He also was charged with retail theft from Kmart Store, Schuylkill Mall, and must serve an additional six to 12 months in prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours community service, enroll in Retail Theft Diversion Program, and make restitution of $54.99 to Kmart. Tielman was cited b New Castle Township Patrolman Walter A. Knepper.

Tammy L. Heffner, 54, Valley View, Hegins Township, passed bad check to pay for heating oil, placed on probation 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 25 hours community service. Heffner was cited by Hegins Township Chief Steven Lorh, Hegins.

Dorothy Ann Morgan, 45, Pottsville, simple assault and defiant trespass, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA fund, perform 20 hours of community service, and make restitution of $125 to Lynn Stuetzle, Schuylkill Haven, the victim. Morgan was cited by Patrolman Warren G. Firing.

Joseph William Skymba, 25, Donaldson, Tremont Township, receiving vehicle stolen in Tower City, serve one to two years in state correctional facility with credit for serving 209 days in county prison, pay $50 to CJEA fund, and perform 20 hours community service.
