Carbon County Soccer Cup returns

Dear Editor:

The second annual Carbon County Soccer Cup will take place on Saturday, Nov. 3. This year's soccer cup was a cooperative effort between the Lehighton, Panther Valley, Jim Thorpe, and Towamensing Soccer Clubs which all donated more than 50 percent of the funds necessary for this soccer event.Local sponsors that were willing to donate the remaining funds included; PJ Whelihans, Computer Patrol, Claude's Creamery, State Farm Insurance w/ Tim Williams, State Representative Doyle Heffley, State Senator David Argall, Desousa Oil and Service Company, OAA Orthopedic Specialists, and The Country Junction. Thanks to these wonderful soccer organizations and generous sponsors, more than 600 soccer players will get to experience the fun, excitement, and competition of tournament soccer. All tournament surplus funds will once again be donated to the Bo Tkach Memorial Foundation. This charitable organization continues to provide financial assistance to students who would not otherwise have access to mental health screening and treatment, and also supports mental health awareness and educating parents to recognize the potential warning signs and symptoms of mental illness.Hopefully in the future, more people, companies, organizations, and businesses will consider sponsoring this worthwhile event and cause!Sincerely,Brian W.
