Lehighton defeated Palmerton on Saturday to close its boys soccer season on a winning note.

BOYS SOCCERLehighton-PalmertonAnthony Rosino scored a pair of goals and assisted on another as Lehighton posted a 3-1 non-league victory over Palmerton.James Farano also scored for the Indians, who finished their season with a 7-11 overall record.Austin Shupp scored the only goal for Palmerton (6-11).Geoff Ebbert had seven saves in the Lehighton goal. Rich Roselli made nine saves for the Bombers.NDGP-TamaquaNotre Dame of Green Pond outscored Tamaqua, 8-3, in a non-league soccer outing.Trailing 4-2 at halftime, Tamaqua gave up four more goals in the second half.Giovanni Mowrey scored two goals and had two assists got the Crusaders. Zach Hogan also scored two goals.For Tamaqua, Mike Stisowain, Anatoly Durmo and Eric Fiorilla all scored goals.Notre Dame improves to 10-7-1 on the season.FIELD HOCKEYNorthwestern-FreedomFreedom's Krysta Klotz scored the contest's sole goal as the Patriots pulled out the 1-0 non-league win over Northwestern.Lauren Musselman had four saves for Freedom (8-9-1).For Northwestern (0-17-1), Laura Kotula stopped 11 shots in the net.Pleasant Vy.-BangorPleasant Valley entered with the mentality of pulling the upset of Colonial League powerhouse Bangor. The Bears went up 2-0 at the intermission, but the Lady Slaters roared back in the second half to pull out the 3-2 win.Melissa Russo had both of Pleasant Valley's goals.Kiley Kuchar had the game-winning goal for the Slaters (16-1).The loss drops the Bears to 7-6-1 on the season.GIRLS SOCCERWeatherly-Jim ThorpeJim Thorpe recorded a 4-0 non-league victory over Weatherly.Cat Condly led the Olympians with two goals and an assist. Rebecca Cressman had a goal and a feed and teammate Amber Castillo scored the other goal.Alyssa Smith pulled off the shutout with seven saves for the hosts.Meanwhile, Weatherly got four saves from goalie Kali Coll.VOLLEYBALLMahanoy Area-LehightonLehighton pulled out a straight-game win over Mahanoy Area, 26-24, 25-21, 25-21.Jackie Jordan led the offense for the winners with 10 kills, seven digs and two aces. Tiff Thompson had eight kills, six aces and five digs, and Taylor Yurasits had 21 assists and six digs.Lehighton also won the JV contest in straights for the sweep on the night.
