Rosary gatherings held throughout our area

ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Visitors and church parishoners held a rosary gathering throughout our area recently to create islands of serenity by publicly praying the most holy rosary. The prayer groups are being promoted by America Needs Fatima. According to the organization's website, 9,000 Public Square rosary Crusade rallies were held at 12 p.m. on Saturday. Some of the local locations consisted of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church in Lansford, Ludlow Park in Summit Hill, Kennedy Park in Lansford, St. Patrick's Cemetery in Nesquehoning, Depot Square Park in Tamaqua, intersection of Routes 309 and 54 in Hometown. Oct. 15 was chosen because it is close to Oct. 13, "the day God worked the miracle of the sun at Fatima, Portugal in 1917. For more information, call Pat Rabayda at (570) 645-4340.
