Interim elementary principal steps down

The Panther Valley School Board bade a fond farewell to interim elementary school Principal Gloria Bowman on Thursday.

Although the board also extended the position to Oct. 22, Bowman is unable to serve the additional days. The job pays $260.23 per day.In a related matter, the board granted elementary Principal William Lombardo unpaid leave Oct. 11, through Aug. 20, 2013.Also on Thursday, the board made a number of personnel moves. The board:*Approved School Improvement Plans for all three schools, effective July 1, 2012 through June 13, 2013;*Accepted the resignation of part-time custodian Vickie Maynes, effective Sept. 14;*Approved Sarah Adams as a short-term substitute middle school Special Education teacher effective Oct. 4 through Dec. 3 at a daily rate of $135;*Approved Lauren Schock-Wall as a short-term substitute elementary school teacher effective Oct. 9 through Nov. 26, at a daily rate of $135;*Appointed Lisa Yarnell as a cafeteria server at the high school, effective Oct. 12, at a rate of $13.35 an hour;*Appointed Cathy Raabe as a cashier at the middle school, effective Oct. 12, at a rate of $13.35 an hour;*Hired Brian Erbe and Anthony Mistretta as permanent part-time custodians, effective Oct. 15, at $12.60 an hour each;*Approved the transfer of Lisa Smith from elementary part-time custodian to high school part-time custodian, effective Oct. 15, at $12.60 per hour;*Added Charles Breiner to the list of substitute custodians, effective immediately, at a rate of $9.40 an hour.The board also approved Rhoda Reynolds, Christine Marie Turner and Nancy Filer as elementary school chaperones.In other actions, the board hired Tutorial Services, of Saline, Michigan, as a supplemental education provider for elementary students at a rate of $1,246.46 per student for 25 hours of support. The hiring is funded by a Title I grant, and is in compliance with the No Child Left Behind law for Title I students who attend a school included in School Improvement.The board also approved a client agreement with Therapy Source of Plymouth Meeting, Montgomery County, for the 2012-13 school year.It also approved an agreement with Vantage Learning at a cost of $5,760.
