Fillies clinch division title; Lady Tigers perfect

Marian clinched its third straight Schuylkill League Division 4 title with a volleyball sweep of Weatherly and the Northwestern girls cross country team finished the regular season with a perfect 26-0 record for the second straight year.

CROSS COUNTRYPalmerton-Bangor-No. Dame ES-Pen Argyl-Salisbury-Saucon Vy.-No. LehighNorthern Lehigh boys and girls picked up three wins apiece in a seven team Colonial League meet at Northern Lehigh. Palmerton also picked up two wins by the boys and girls.Wade White of Bangor won the boys race with a time of 17:08. The top finishing boy for Northern Lehigh was Matt Pender, who was ninth overall with a time of 18:24. Sean Seiler was the top runner from Palmerton finishing 11th overall with a time of 18:49. Gavin Kemery of Northern Lehigh was 14th and Zach Svetik of Palmerton was 15th.Elizabeth Chikotas won the girls race with a time of 19:01. The top runner from Northern Lehigh was Rachel Hendrix with a time of 22:54. The top runner from Palmerton was Jaclyn Wood with a time of 23:17.Ethan Bernstein won the 3K dash with a time of 10:59. The top runner from Palmerton was Kody Kolnik with a time of 11:51. Nikki Collevechio led the way with eight aces, Emily Pilla had seven, Marykate Sherkness and Abby O'Donnell had five each, and Sophie Myers added four. At the net, Grace Boyle had seven kills and Sherkness added five as eight different Marian players picked up kills in the match. O'Donnell had 18 assists.For Weatherly (0-11, 0-17), Karlee Hinkle had two kills and four digs.
